Overview

The UM-Jackson Memorial Medical Center offers an ASTS approved abdominal transplant fellowship position in the Transplant Program.

The University of Miami Abdominal Organ Transplant Surgery Fellowship is a busy program which provides a unique professional experience and broad exposure to adult and pediatric liver, kidney, intestine and pancreas transplant. You will gain experience in both cadaver and living donor laparoscopic and open procurement. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to learn surgical techniques, donor and recipient pre-operative selection, out- patient and in-hospital, pre- and post- operative care, and immunotherapy. There is a strong didactic program with faculty mentorship, participation in research projects, and participation in teaching conferences with a core curriculum, grand rounds, pathology conferences and journal club. numerous weekly meeting including a Transplant Mortality and Morbidity Conference, Kidney and liver Selection Committees, Liver Transplant Pathology Conference and Transplant Symposium.

Postgraduate Training Required:   General Surgery or Board Certified Urologist
U.S. Citizenship Required: No, however for applicant from foreign countries, there will be an extra few months to process visa application J-1VISA.

A successful candidate should be a graduate fully trained in general surgery (American board certified or eligible/or foreign equivalent) or Board Certified Urologist, passed USMLE steps 1, 2 and 3 and be eligible for medical license in Florida.
