Message from the CEO
Tropical Storm Erika Update
Jackson Health System is open for business and operating as usual.
Dear Jackson supporter,
A few years ago, our community had lost faith that Jackson Health System could reliably operate in a way that was medically excellent, patient-friendly and financially sustainable. Even last year, when the system earned its first true surplus since 2006, skeptics said it was an unsustainable blip that would be followed by tumbling volumes and revenues.
We have proven the skeptics wrong.
Through the passion and professionalism of our caregivers and the support of our community, Jackson’s future is brighter than ever. More patients are choosing our hospitals. A new crop of world-class physicians are joining our team, both directly and through our academic partnerships with the University of Miami and Florida International University. Independent measures show that our safety and quality are streaking toward the nation’s highest levels. And thanks to the belief of Miami-Dade County voters in our mission and operations, the system will be investing more than $830 million over the next decade for renovations, new facilities and the latest technology.
With every success, we set new and greater challenges for ourselves. In the year to come, you’ll see a renewed focus on customer service – every patient and visitor should be treated like the most important person in the hospital. We’re beautifying our campuses and making them easier to navigate. We’re adding more physicians, which means more appointments and shorter waits. We want everyone to see why U.S. News & World Report has again ranked UM/Jackson Memorial the number-one hospital in Miami-Fort Lauderdale.
Jackson’s future has never been brighter, and there’s never been a better time to become part of our family. We’re honored to serve our neighbors in Miami-Dade and families from around the world. We’re also eager to hear to your feedback on Jackson’s transformation – email us at WeCare@jhsmiami.org, or find us on Facebook, Twitter and other social-media sites.
