Dear Jackson supporter,
There was a time when our community had lost faith that Jackson Health System could reliably operate in a way that was medically excellent, patient-friendly, and financially sustainable. Even when our transformation began in 2011 and Jackson showed its first signs of turn-around, skeptics said it was an unsustainable blip that would be followed by tumbling volumes and revenues.
We have proven the skeptics wrong.
Through the passion and professionalism of our caregivers and the support of our community, Jackson’s future is brighter than ever. More patients are choosing our hospitals. A new crop of world-class physicians are joining our team, both directly and through our academic partnerships with the University of Miami and Florida International University. Independent measures show that our safety and quality are streaking toward the nation’s highest levels. And we’re doing it all without compromising on our historic mission to provide a single high standard of care for every Miami-Dade County resident, regardless of their background or ability to pay.
Thanks to the belief of Miami-Dade County voters in our mission and operations, the system has already begun investing more than $1.5 billion for renovations, new facilities, and the latest technology. Our ambitious capital plan includes renovations of our existing hospitals – Jackson Memorial Hospital, Holtz Children’s Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center, Jackson South Community Hospital, and Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital – as well as construction of the new Jackson West Medical Center campus in Doral, the new Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial, and a network of UHealth Jackson Urgent Care centers across our community.
These projects will help us attract the full range of patients, which, in turn, provide the financial ability that will allow Jackson to successfully fulfill its public promise of a single high standard of care delivered to every Miami-Dade resident. Finally, our appearance and infrastructure will live up to the promise of our cutting-edge medicine and world-class caregivers.
With every success, we set new and greater challenges for ourselves. Jackson is committed to leadership in next-generation healthcare initiatives such as population health management to maximize our neighbors’ wellness; the integration of new software and other technology to promote good health and treat chronic disease; and empowering our patients to be smart consumers with access to information about our quality and prices.
Over the last 99 years, Jackson has evolved into one of the nation’s greatest healthcare institutions, and its future has never been brighter. As we continue to grow our facilities, and expand our reach farther into communities throughout Miami-Dade, there’s never been a better time to become part of our family. We’re honored to serve our neighbors in Miami-Dade and families from around the world. We’re also eager to hear to your feedback on Jackson’s transformation – email us at WeCare@jhsmiami.org, or find us on Facebook, Twitter and other social-media sites.
