- The Pediatric ER relies on strong teamwork, which allows us to provide excellent care for the children of Miami-Dade County.
- In 2005, we were named the "Best Nursing Team" by Advance for Nurses magazine.
- Developed protocol for pediatric ER triage to aid in decreasing patient length of stay (LOS) and increase patient satisfaction.
Size & Type
The unit has the ability to see and treat 24 patients with pediatric emergencies.
27 RNs; 1 ARNP; 1 Community Outreach Nurse; 6 Senior Emergency Technicians (SERTs), 6 Hospital Unit Secretaries (HUS). All nursing staff are Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified.

There is no specific nurse-patient ratio in the Emergency Department
Our organizational structure follows the Shared Governance model. It is made up of nurse managers, associate nurse managers, clinical staff nurses, patient care technicians (PCTs), secretaries and administrators.
