Minority Health Month

In celebration of April being National Minority Health Month, Jackson Health System partnered with many community organizations to set up health fairs in different parts of Miami–Dade County. The first health fair was held on Saturday, April 18 at the New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church and featured a farmer’s market, kiddie village, and job fair. Jackson Health System was on hand to provide free health screenings, including body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, and cholesterol.
On Saturday, April 25, Loren Roberts Park played host to the Florida City Gateway to Wellness/Health and Resource Fair. At the fair, guests enjoyed free health screenings courtesy of Jackson Health System for HIV/AIDS, glucose, and blood pressure. There was also a Zumba class, kid’s zone, and voter registration booth. DJ Hercules of 99 JAMZ was spinning live at both events.
