The emergency department at Jackson Memorial Hospital is among the busiest in the nation. To better serve our patients, we are expanding and renovating our existing facility.
The new emergency department at Jackson Memorial for adult patients will be relocated to Northwest 19th Street, adjacent to the main entrance to the hospital and conveniently located near a parking garage.
With 80 exam rooms and 20 observation rooms, our highly-skilled emergency medical staff will be able to triage, diagnose, and treat our patients as efficiently as possible. Plans also include modernizing the imaging department in the emergency room, allowing for faster treatment of patients.
At a total cost of approximately $200 million, construction on the expansion and modernization of the Jackson Memorial emergency department is expected to begin in 2018.
Through Jackson’s Mentor/Protégé Development Program, the construction management company on this project is Skanska USA Building, Inc., and the protégé is IGWT Construction, Inc., a small business based in Miami-Dade County.
