Jackson Nurses at the Alamo

Over the course of nearly 100 years, Jackson Health System has grown to become one of the nation’s largest and most renowned public hospital systems. A nonprofit academic medical system with 2,200 beds offering world-class care to any person who walks through its doors, Jackson includes six hospitals, its centerpiece, Jackson Memorial Hospital, as well as Holtz Children’s Hospital, Jackson Rehabilitation Hospital, Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center, and Jackson South Community Hospital; multiple primary care and specialty care centers; two long-term care nursing facilities; Corrections Health Services clinics; and a network of mental health facilities.

Jackson is also home to Ryder Trauma Center, one of the world’s most prestigious trauma centers; the Miami Burn Center, one of the leading burn treatment centers in the nation; and the Miami Transplant Institute, one of the nation’s leading transplant centers and the only center in South Florida that performs all types of transplants, including intestinal and multivisceral transplants.

With training programs for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, Jackson is an internationally recognized teaching facility. Academic partnerships with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University allow future physicians to perfect their skills alongside experts in various medical specialties at Jackson facilities, where leading-edge medicine is practiced every day.

Jackson is a vast complex where cutting edge medicine is practiced – however growth is the prescription for the future. Jackson has embarked on a $1.4 billion, 10-year capital plan to build new facilities and upgrade existing facilities, including a new hospital, two emergency rooms, and a pediatric center in Doral; a new, state-of-the-art rehabilitation hospital in partnership with The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis; a new tower to house the Miami Transplant Institute; and several urgent care centers throughout Miami-Dade County, bringing Jackson’s unmatched medical expertise closer to where people live, work, and play.

During its long and storied history, Jackson has delivered world-class care to some of the most medically vulnerable patients in our community and across the globe. It’s where miracles are made daily.
