As per requirements set forth by the Florida Legislature in HB 221 and HB 1175, Jackson Health System has provided the following information to patients and other visitors.
Health Care Industry Billing Practices
Prospective patients should be aware that services may be provided in a Jackson Health System hospital by a healthcare practitioner who may separately bill the patient. Healthcare practitioners who provide services in Jackson Health System hospitals may or may not participate with the same health insurers or HMOs as the health system. Prior to receiving services at a Jackson hospital, prospective patients should contact the healthcare practitioner who will provide services in the hospital to determine which health insurers and HMO plans that practitioner participates in as a network provider or preferred provider. In accordance with HB 221, the names, mailing addresses, and telephone numbers of those healthcare providers and medical practice groups that Jackson contracts with to provide services in our hospitals is available below.

Charge Master Introduction
Like all American hospitals, Jackson Health System maintains a “charge description master,” or chargemaster, which lists every service or supply that can be billed to a patient’s account. Jackson posts this document in compliance with federal regulations, but it is not an effective way to estimate what you will pay for medical care at Jackson.
Why not? Insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid all negotiate different rates for services. Moreover, patients generally only pay a portion of those rates through deductibles, co-payments, or co-insurance, while the insurance company, Medicare, or Medicaid pays the balance. Patients without coverage may be eligible for charity care, payment plans, or cash discounts.
Jackson proudly provides free, confidential, customized price quotes for hundreds of our most popular services through our CareQuote program. Click here: www.jhsmiami.org/CareQuote/ for more information about CareQuote or to start the process now.
Information on the hospital’s charge description master can be found here.

Collection Policy & Procedures
Information on collection procedures can be found here.
Jackson Health System’s Care Quote program provides free price estimates for healthcare services at Jackson facilities. More and more insurance plans require out-of-pocket spending by the patient.
Prices for medical services can vary significantly, even for the exact same procedure in the same area, with the same equipment. Jackson will empower you with information to make an informed decision about your care. Unlike traditional price estimators, which rely on averages, our service checks patients’ actual insurance information to provide highly accurate quotes based on their insurance plan design, deductibles, coinsurance, and more. This information will also be useful to patients who don’t have health insurance and want to research cash prices.
