Physicians at the Miami Adult Congenital Heart Center (MACH) have achieved board-certification in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, and care for more adult patients with congenital heart disease than any other program in South Florida.
We understand that adults with congenital heart disease require care that cannot be delivered by adult or pediatric cardiologists alone. As specialists in congenital heart disease, Miami Adult Congenital Heart Center pediatric cardiologists have the expertise to coordinate a multidisciplinary approach to providing high quality patient care to adults 18 years of age and older with congenital heart disease. This multidisciplinary approach includes the close involvement of pediatric and adult cardiologists. Specific issues arising in adults with congenital heart disease include:
- Heart failure
- High-risk pregnancies
- Coronary artery disease
- Complex heart rhythm disorders
MACH specialists work with primary care physicians and primary cardiologists as consultants, care coordinators or as primary cardiologists for adults with congenital heart disease based on the needs of the patient. Cardiovascular problems can occur that require members of our team who are experts in interventional cardiac catheterization for congenital heart disease and for congenital heart surgery.
Our ability to maintain normal quality and length of life is continually improving. The medical commitment to these patients is life-long and the Miami Adult Congenital Heart Center is the only one of its kind in South Florida.
