As a parent, I know there is nothing worse than seeing your child sick or in pain. And that heartbreak and anxiety grows exponentially if you have to take your son or daughter to a hospital.

During those times when your child needs extra medical attention – when kisses from Mom and ice packs at home don’t do the trick – you can count on our team at Holtz Children’s Hospital to take care of your most precious gift. Holtz Children’s, located at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, is the flagship pediatric hospital under UHealth Jackson Children’s Care.

As one of the most respected children’s hospitals in the southeastern United States, Holtz Children’s has a reputation for providing world-class, highly specialized care to children of all ages. Our team of dedicated medical professionals from Jackson Health System and the University of Miami Health System live by our values of providing every patient with compassion, accountability, respect, and expertise.

Whether your child needs routine medical care, help for an unexpected emergency at our pediatric ER, or treatment for the most complex illnesses, we are ready to serve you.

Our multidisciplinary team of University of Miami Health System physicians, covering nearly every medical specialty, work alongside highly skilled Jackson nurses to provide every patient at Holtz Children’s with the best, most appropriate care. Our facility is home to a large pediatric intensive care unit, where experts in critical care medicine treat children with a variety of illnesses, including those recovering from organ transplants at the Miami Transplant Institute and those with advanced heart conditions. A designated pediatric hematology/oncology unit provides children with cancer and blood disorders the most advanced treatments in a setting that includes interactive playrooms and a high-tech theater for those undergoing infusions and chemotherapy.

For those children with life-limiting illnesses, Holtz Children’s has a palliative care team called PediPals, which includes representatives from different areas of our medical team. PediPals is a family-centered program that focuses on maintaining an inclusive relationship between the patient, the patient’s family, and the hospital team – all with a shared goal of ensuring the patient is comfortable throughout their medical journey.

The Schatzi and Stanley Kassal Project: Newborn Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Holtz Children’s is one of the largest and most well-regarded level 3 NICUs in the nation, where pioneering treatments were developed and perfected. Operated and staffed 24-hours a day by expert University of Miami neonatologists, the 126-bed NICU at Holtz Children’s offers premature and critically ill babies the most advanced care needed to support developmental growth. Expectant moms delivering at the Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial find comfort knowing that the Holtz Children’s NICU is just steps away from the labor and delivery unit, in the event that their newborn needs additional medical care immediately after birth.

Our pediatric medical team is complemented by a group of exceptional, highly-trained Child Life specialists, who offer emotional support to children of all ages to help them cope with the stress of being ill and hospitalized. We are also big believers in the power of music therapy as a way to help our patients during their treatment and recovery. Our Holtz Children’s music therapists sing and play instruments with our patients, often in our Creative Arts Studio, which includes a recording studio and allows children to express their artistic abilities. These activities go a long way in boosting our patients’ spirits and giving them something to look forward to, while also having proven clinical benefits.

Holtz Children’s Hospital is known for providing unmatched medical care, often for the most complex cases. Our patients and their miracle stories are what continue to energize our highly passionate team. During your child’s time of need, know you can count on us. We’re here for you and your family.
