According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), recovery is defined as “the process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.” For further detailed information about the guiding principles of recovery please visit http://www.samhsa.gov/recovery/.

Communication is Key
Problems in need of sound solutions require clear communication between providers and patients. At Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, we strive to provide an environment where everyone’s voices are heard and needs are met. We are unique in providing a full array of services to the Deaf/deaf and hard of hearing community for children, adults, adolescents and their families with special communication needs. Services are offered through providers who are knowledgeable about and sensitive to, deaf and hard of hearing individuals as well as deaf cultural issues. We offer care in American Sign Language, spoken English and Spanish. In addition to sign language services, other foreign language interpreters are available to facilitate communication when necessary. More broadly, the Hospital offers its full array of services in English, Spanish, and Creole – with ancillary interpreter services in hundreds of languages through Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Interpreter Services.
