Residents of south Miami-Dade County will continue to be safer as we are pleased to announce that the Level II trauma center at Jackson South Medical Center has been officially certified by the Florida Department of Health, and will be a permanent fixture in the community. Jackson South’s trauma center, stands on its own as a full-service, around-the-clock trauma center. But unlike other Level II trauma centers, it also has immediate and unlimited access to the cutting-edge resources of Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial. The entire team is dedicated to providing care to patients who need lifesaving care, including those injured in motor vehicle crashes, gun violence, and falls.
At Jackson South, the dedicated trauma bays are housed inside of the hospital’s emergency room and are accessible to fire rescue crews by ground transportation, as well as air rescue landing on the helipad atop the ER.
UHealth trauma surgeons, including other Ryder Trauma veterans, will work alongside community physicians and Jackson South nurses and caregivers, who have been specially trained by the Ryder Trauma staff. The entire team is dedicated to providing care to patients who need lifesaving care, including those injured in motor vehicle crashes, gun violence, burns, and falls.
The trauma center medical staff is led by expert trauma surgeons from UHealth – The University of Miami Health System, including Dr. Enrique Ginzburg, a 24-year trauma veteran and leader from Ryder Trauma, who has been named the trauma medical director of the Jackson South Trauma Center.
The standards and the expectations for trauma care at Jackson are exceptionally high for clinical quality, patient safety, and service excellence. For more than two decades, Jackson has been synonymous with providing unmatched trauma care – and now we are expanding our footprint into south Miami-Dade, an area that has seen tremendous growth.
