Jackson Health System Launches Community Education Campaign on COVID-19 Vaccine

(Miami, FL) – Jackson Health System launched a community education campaign that focuses on informing the public on the COVID-19 vaccines and its distribution in Miami-Dade County.  In order to help our community make well-informed decisions, Jackson produced a series of educational videos in English, Spanish and Creole, which features healthcare experts who speak on the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety, and address common myths.  In addition, a fourth video focuses on the Black community, and how they are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.  The videos can be viewed at www.jacksonhealth.org/vaccine-facts.

To kick off the campaign, Jackson is hosting live Town Hall, featuring health experts who will talk about COVID vaccine. The Town Halls will be on his Friday, February 12, at two convenient times: 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.  For more information and to register for the town hall, visit www.jacksonhealth.org/vaccine-facts, and click on the link under either time.

Getting vaccinated is one of many steps you can take to protect yourself from COVID-19. Vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. Protection from COVID-19 is critically important because for some people, it can cause severe illness or death. Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools available. Other steps, like wearing face masks, hand washing, and physical distancing, help reduce your chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine, combined with following recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will offer the best protection against COVID-19.
