What Is Health Insurance?

Health insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company. You purchase a plan, and the company agrees to pay part of your medical costs when you get sick or hurt. Most insurance plans provide free preventive care coverage, like vaccines and checkups. They also cover some costs for prescription drugs.

How Do I Choose The Right Insurance Plan?

The federal government’s marketplace for health insurance is a new way to find health coverage that fits your budget and meets your needs. With one application, you can see all your options and enroll.

Every health insurance plan in the new federal government’s marketplace will offer essential health benefits, including:

  • Doctor visits
  • Preventive care
