This week, children throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties will begin their summer break. With summer comes more free time and outdoor activities like swimming, bike riding and playground visits. During this time of year with the constant outdoor play – including water activities and, of course, the hot weather – parents should be extra cautious about the hazards to their children’s safety.
As part of the countdown to the 20th anniversary celebration of Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson’s Injury Prevention Coordinator, Cindy Magnole, R.N., B.S.N., will share safety tips – with props – to keep children out of the emergency room.
Some of those tips are: How to be safe in and around water this summer, simple steps to take to ensure a safe Fourth of July holiday and bicycle and pedestrian safety.
