Patty Cohen, widow of Aaron Cohen; Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System; Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., dean, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine; Enda Walsh, former Ryder Trauma Center patient; Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez; bike patrols from the City of Miami Police and Miami-Dade Police

What:

On February 15, 2012, Aaron Cohen was bicycling on the Rickenbacker Causeway when a driver struck him and drove off. Cohen, 36, a tri-athlete and avid bicyclist, sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He died a day later.

As part of Ryder’s 20th anniversary celebration, Jackson Health System is hosting “Ride for Ryder,” a memorial bike ride from the Rickenbacker Causeway to the front of the trauma center to raise awareness of the importance of motorists, cyclists, runners and pedestrians sharing the road.

Cohen’s widow, Patty Cohen, will lead the ride in honor of her husband, alongside Jackson Health System President and CEO Carlos A. Migoya and University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Dean Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. Enda Walsh, who was biking with Cohen on February 15 and struck by the same drunk driver, will also be taking part in the ride. Walsh was treated at Ryder for his injuries.
