COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR IN OVERTOWN

Who:

The Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center, a comprehensive primary care clinic which provides services through the participation of Jackson Health System, is hosting a free community health fair for adults and children.
|

What:
|
The fair will address wellness and health issues facing the residents of Overtown and surrounding neighborhoods. There will be free testing for blood pressure, blood glucose, pregnancy and HIV as well as free dental screenings for adults and children.
Learn how to start your own fruit and vegetable garden from the Overtown Optimist Club. Get moving with The Miami Gardens Super Soul Steppers who will perform their signature “step-line dancing”. And come work out in a free, 30-minute Zumba fitness class.
Safelink will provide a free cell phone and minutes program to residents who meet their qualifications. Educational materials and a list of community resources will also be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to learn about fitness and wellness while connecting with local healthcare organizations.

The center offers comprehensive primary care services and, through the participation of Jackson Health System, facilitates referrals to Jackson Memorial Hospital for specialized services. Staff provides care and treatment in three languages: English, Spanish and Creole.
