JUST IN TIME FOR THANKSGIVING, PARAPLEGIC PATIENT GETS THE GIFT OF MOBILITY

Who:

Leslie Seraphin, paraplegic patient; Dr. Renaud St. Vil, medical director, Jackson Memorial Long Term Care Center; Miracal Saddler, social worker, Jackson Memorial Long Term Care Facility; DJ Big Man Kelly, WHQT Hot 105.

What:

Leslie Seraphin has been paralyzed since 2005, when he suffered head trauma from a motorcycle accident.  Unable to move the entire right side of his body, Seraphin is bound to a wheelchair.

Recently, the 32-year-old father contacted Hot 105 radio station and appealed for help to get a motorized wheelchair.  “A motorized wheelchair will help me to maneuver better and get out more,” says Seraphin.  “It will help me to be able to go to church, and visit my 11-year-old son.”

Seraphin’s plight was aired on Hot 105’s Rick Party in the Afternoon, Hump Day Help Out radio program, where listeners with needs call in to appeal for help.

“We were able to pair up Mr. Seraphin, who had a need, with a donor who had just what he needed,” said DJ Big Man Kelly, co-host of the Rick Party show. “We are honored to present Mr. Seraphin with a motorized wheel chair that will make his life a little easier.”
