United Way Contributions Have Big Impact On Miami-Dade
Year after year Jackson Health System teams up with the United Way of Miami-Dade to give back to the community in a big way. Jackson’s mission of helping our neediest neighbors in South Florida in areas like health, education, and financial stability is made possible through our annual employee contribution campaign supporting the United Way.
The United Way of Miami-Dade hosts a variety of campaigns and projects that are evidence-based and outcome-measured. They also partner with agencies like the Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries South Florida, and the Overtown Youth Center to help strengthen the community and improve lives.
This year, a variety of campaign initiatives to help raise funds for the United Way were held at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center, and Jackson South Medical Center. Food trucks, silent auctions, raffles, bake sales, casual days, yoga classes, cook-offs, a butterfly release, and the infamous executive dunk tank were just some of the amazing fundraising efforts that took place. Employees were also able to donate via payroll deduction, PL donation, or a one-time gift.
“The entire Jackson Health System family not only donated financially, but gave their time and energy too – making the 2015 United Way campaign one of our most successful at Jackson,” said Beverly Capasso, Jackson Memorial Hospital’s senior vice president and chief executive officer, and Jackson United Way campaign co-chair.
“Everyone’s efforts have more than proven we are definitely Jackson United – Making Miracles Through the Power of Community – and we can’t thank everyone enough,” added Nicoletta B. Tessler, Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital’s senior vice president and chief executive officer, and Jackson United Way campaign co-chair.
With everyone’s generous support and donations, Jackson was able to raise more than $302,000, building upon our honorable legacy of giving back to the community.
