Jackson Rehabilitation Hospital Hosts Second Annual TBI Expressions Café

On Wednesday, March 30, Jackson Rehabilitation Hospital hosted the second annual Traumatic Brain Injury Expressions Café. The event is a special occasion to celebrate continued recovery, self-expression, and promote brain injury awareness. Both current and previous patients presented works of art, songs, and stories with other patients, friends, family members, and hospital staff.

“The event was a huge success and we are so proud of our patients who participated,” says Recreation Therapist, Kelly Messett.” They have all been working for weeks to prepare their presentations and the therapeutic benefits of partaking in this type of event is very valuable in their recovery process. The Therapeutic Recreation program at Jackson Rehabilitation Hospital has always emphasized community reintegration and promoting a holistic approach to brain injury recovery.”
