Jackson Health System Celebrates Grand Opening of its First Urgent Care Center

Ribbon Cutting at Country Walk UCC

Jackson Health System celebrated the grand opening of its first urgent care center, one of six centers announced under its $1.8 billion capital plan. UHealth Jackson Urgent Care in Country Walk opened to patients on September 19, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“There’s no part of Jackson’s Miracle Building Plan – no facility, no structure, no equipment – that can make a difference without our people,” said Carlos A. Migoya, President & CEO of Jackson Health System. “By providing the best combination of clinical excellence and customer care, we’re redefining the way an academic medical center delivers for its community.”

Nearly three years ago, Jackson began its journey towards expanding its reach deeper into the community it serves after winning the support of Miami-Dade voters. Through the capital plan, Jackson is building new hospitals, renovating outdated facilities, and upholding a promise that it made to taxpayer owners.

“This is an amazing way to fulfill the promise we made to voters in 2013 with the Jackson Miracle-Building Bond,” said Migoya “It’s also an amazing step forward in our six-decade partnership with the University of Miami. For so many of our residents, Jackson and UM are the shared guardians of Florida’s most trusted healthcare.”

The new urgent center is located in Country Walk Plaza at 13707 S.W. 152nd Street. The center is 4,000 square-feet and open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 365 days a year.

In addition to the Country Walk site, five additional urgent care locations are currently in different phases of development in Arch Creek in North Miami, South Beach, Cutler Bay, Miami Gardens, and Doral.

All of the new centers will be named UHealth Jackson Urgent Care, and staffed by University of Miami Health System expert, board-certified physicians and Jackson’s world-class nurses and support staff.

The centers will cater to patients with urgent care needs such as ailments like the flu or common cold, fever, vomiting, earaches, simple bone fractures, rashes and minor allergic reactions; diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms and digital x-rays; and lab tests such as blood glucose, urinalysis, and strep throat cultures.

Sports physicals and flu vaccine will also be available.
