Clinical Depression vs. Holiday Blues: When Help is Needed
The key differences between clinical depression and the “holiday blues” are intensity and timing. The blues are less severe and often temporary; they go away once the season ends. The more serious conditions — such as depression, seasonal affective disorder, and anxiety disorder — are often made worse by the stresses of the holiday season.
Take this quiz to help determine if you may be suffering from one of these conditions:

If you answered “yes” to questions 1, 2, 4, 6, or 9, please consult with a primary care physician who may consider referring you to a behavioral health professional. If you answered yes to two or more questions, or are suffering from feelings that can interfere with your daily functioning, this may be cause for concern. In this case, a complete assessment is advised as you may need professional help.
