DOWNLOADABLES – Coloring and Art Therapy
Often times after experiencing a sexual trauma, a survivor experiences different emotions. For some, these emotions lose intensity over time and though the memory of the traumatic event does not go away, it becomes more bearable. For others, the emotions don’t dissipate and they impact a person’s functioning in different areas of his/her life.
No matter when it happens, there are things that a survivor can do when emotions become overwhelming or a survivor is having difficulty in different areas of his/her life related to the trauma. One important and invaluable resource is therapy. Evidence-based therapy can help someone overcome the obstacles that develop after a trauma. A therapist can give a survivor non-judgmental support and skills they need to regain or improve their well-being.
For those who are feeling stress and are looking for a way to relax, using an adult coloring book can be helpful. Though coloring is a not a substitute for traditional therapy, it may provide some relief for those needing an outlet at home, work, school, etc. Below, find some mandalas that you can download and color.

In addition to therapy, survivors can benefit from social and/or familial support. Talking with others who have a positive, non-blaming perspective can help an individual feel connected, loved, and supported. Moreover, as a complement to therapy, participation in meaningful activities is important to well-being and can help a survivor feel proud, connected, and content.
