Running for a Cause – Come Rain or Shine

It was an early, rainy morning the Saturday of the Annual Life Alliance Run-4 Life, but that didn’t stop our team from the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) from completing their 5K walk/run.

Our MTI Miracle Workers, included 20 members of our joint Jackson/University of Miami Health System team, including our physicians and their families. Participants walked and ran in honor, in celebration, and in recognition of those who have donated organs, received organs, as well as those waiting for lifesaving transplants.

MTI was a proud sponsor of this event, and spent the day as life ambassadors. From creating more awareness about organ donation, to spending time with the children and adults they’ve helped over the years, the MTI Miracle Workers were proud to represent the Miami Transplant Institute at this family-fun event.

The Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency (LAORA) is a Division of the Daughtry Family department of Surgery at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is one of the nation’s federally designated organ recovery agencies, which is certified and regulated by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Life Alliance is a tax-exempt, nonprofit service organization that has the unique role of saving lives through organ donation and transplantation, as well as providing organs and tissues for research to advance medical science.
