Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Highlight: American Home Health Agency
How did you first learn of the opportunity to work with Jackson Health System?
We were told by a friend that Jackson Health System had an open invitation to bid seeking home health agencies to support their early discharge program. We attended the pre-bid meeting hosted by a Jackson procurement officer and learned the contract had a small business enterprise (SBE) bid preference assigned. Prior to contract submission, we quickly worked with Miami-Dade County to become certified as an SBE. Finally, we submitted all the required documentation for the bid. On July 13, 2010, we were awarded our first contract with Jackson.
What services do you provide?
We assist in delivering home health services to unfunded patients, with the transition of care services in the home setting. This can include assisting patients with a simple bath to complex care – such as IV infusion or ventilator care. We also provide physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as social worker services.
What has your experience working with Jackson been like?
Working with Jackson over the years, we have learned to be flexible and expect changes, as the health system strives to provide quality outcomes to patients in the community. Moreover, our clinical staff have taken care of patients with various ailments and challenging health needs in addition to supporting caregivers and patients during their healthcare journey.

How has your business grown from doing business with Jackson?
Working with Jackson has opened the door to many more opportunities. Among those have been working with other hospitals and healthcare entities across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties.
