About
Mauricio Pipkin, MD, is the surgical director of The Lung Center and associate professor of surgery at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Pipkin earned his medical degree from Lutheran University of Brazil, where he also completed a general surgery residency. He completed a thoracic surgery residency at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, as well as fellowships in thoracic surgery and lung transplantation at Toronto General Hospital/University Health Network through the University of Toronto.
His clinical interests include thoracic oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung transplantation, extracorporeal life support, ex vivo lung perfusion, in vivo isolated lung perfusion and robotic surgery.
Prior to joining Miami Transplant Institute, Dr. Pipkin was surgical director of University of Florida College of Medicine and assistant professor in the division of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.
Dr. Pipkin has authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in medical textbooks.
