Carmen M. Sabater Named Chairwoman of the Public Health Trust Board of Trustees
Sabater is the First Hispanic Woman to Lead the Public Health Trust
Miami, FL – At today’s Public Health Trust Board of Trustees meeting, trustees elected Carmen M. Sabater chairwoman of Jackson Health System’s governing board. A respected business executive and financial leader, Sabater becomes the first Hispanic woman and the third woman overall to serve in the role in the Trust’s history. Sabater, who has served on the board since 2020, most recently as vice chair, succeeds outgoing Chairman Amadeo Lopez-Castro III.
During her tenure on the Board of Trustees, Sabater has helped guide strategic initiatives that support Jackson’s continued growth and commitment to delivering high-quality health care throughout Miami-Dade County.

Sabater is the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Quirch Foods – a multibillion-dollar global food distribution company that operates more than 20 distribution centers across the United States and Puerto Rico. There, she oversees the company’s financial strategy, planning, and long-term fiscal performance.
Prior to joining Quirch Foods, Sabater served as chief financial officer of MasTec, a publicly held infrastructure service provider. She started her career working in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche, a global services firm, before advancing into senior leadership roles at several multimillion- and multibillion-dollar organizations.
Sabater earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Miami. A Miami native, she is actively involved in community and civic organizations, including serving on the boards of United Way Miami and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart. She also serves on the board of Dycom Industries (DY).
