Collaboration Leads to Crosswalk Construction at Jackson Memorial Perdue Medical Center

Miami, FL – Residents at Jackson Memorial Perdue Medical Center, a long-term care nursing facility in Cutler Bay that is part of the Jackson Health System network, joined community leaders on Tuesday, November 12, to celebrate the construction of a crosswalk, which will allow for safer pedestrian crossing on Old Cutler Road.

Miami-Dade resident Eleni Sonenreich, a volunteer at the facility, recognized the need for the crosswalk and advocated for it to be built. The project was a collaboration between Sonenreich, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, officials from the Town of Cutler Bay, and Jackson Health System.

The crosswalk, which includes flashing traffic lights, is located in front of Perdue Medical Center, 19590 Old Cutler Road. The medical center is a licensed, 163-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, which serves a diverse patient population of younger and older adults.

“We are delighted to inaugurate the Jackson Memorial Perdue Medical Center crosswalk,” Levine Cava said. This long-awaited improvement will provide needed safety for the wheelchair-bound residents at the facility in Cutler Bay. We are so grateful to constituent Eleni Sonenreich, who brought this issue to our attention and advocated for the crosswalk for all the residents.”
