Holtz Children’s Hospital Certified as an Asthma-Friendly Hospital from the Florida Asthma Coalition

MIAMI, FL. – The Florida Asthma Coalition has recognized Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial as an Asthma-Friendly Hospital for its safe and healthy environment for patients with asthma.

The staff at Holtz Children’s has met all four criteria to be recognized as an Asthma-Friendly hospital, which include:

  • Completing asthma management-related professional development for the asthma team lead, hospital pulmonologists, and at least one other specialist.
  • Providing all patients with an admitted diagnoses of asthma with a written asthma action plan.
  • Ensuring all patients with an admitting diagnosis of asthma are provided with, or referred to, self-management education that meet EPR-3 guidelines for adults and children who are discharged from emergency departments or hospital inpatient settings.
  • Providing all patients with severe, persistent asthma with referrals and/or information about multi-component, home-based asthma management education.
