Jackson joins 406 health care providers nationwide earning the designation
Miami, FL – The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation named all six Jackson Health System hospitals “Leaders in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” for the eighth year.
Through its annual Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), HRC evaluated Jackson Memorial Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center, Jackson South Medical Center, Jackson Rehabilitation Hospital, Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, and Holtz Children’s Hospital/The Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial, with all six earning top marks for their policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) patient care and support, employee policies and benefits, and LGBTQ patient and community engagement.
A record 680 health care facilities actively participated in the HEI 2019 survey, with the HRC Foundation proactively researching key policies at 1,000 additional non-participating hospitals. Of those included in the HEI, 406 earned a “LGBTQ health care Equality Leader” designation, including Jackson.
Only four other facilities in South Florida made the list, including the University of Miami Hospital, VA Miami Healthcare System, Florida Medical Center – A Campus of North Shore, and the VA West Palm Beach Medical Center.

Jackson hospitals have received this distinction eight times since 2011.
