TWINS DOING WELL AT JACKSON SOUTH COMMUNITY HOSPITAL AFTER MAKING A DRAMATIC ENTRANCE INTO THE WORLD

At 5 a.m. Friday, September 20, Jessica Stanley’s water broke and she knew her twin boys were on their way.

Jessica and her fiancée, Antavian Milton, left their home in Goulds and rushed towards Jackson South Community Hospital. While on their way, the couple’s car slammed into another car, near Coral Reef Senior High, just blocks from Jackson South.

Luckily, no one was seriously injured – but Jessica’s contractions were becoming more frequent and more painful. There was no way she’d make it to the hospital in time to deliver her first baby.

Before fire rescue arrived, a nurse driving by stopped and helped deliver the first baby – a boy, Antavian II, 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

Fire rescue then rushed Jessica and baby Antavian II to Jackson South. The baby was immediately evaluated by labor and delivery nurses there, while Jessica was taken into surgery to deliver Antavian III, 7 pounds, 7 ounces, via cesarean section.

Jessica and her twin boys remain at Jackson South, where they are doing well. The family will share their story at a news conference September 23, 2013.
