MIND YOUR HEALTH
Jackson Health System Recognizes Mental Health Month

Miami, FL – One in four American adults live with a diagnosable, treatable mental health condition, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder. Sometimes, people are dealing with depression associated with a chronic disease such as cancer, diabetes or hypertension. Traumatic events, such as the loss of a loved one or a natural disaster, can take a huge toll on mental health. However while mental health and substance abuse conditions are common, many are treatable, and individuals go on to recover and lead full and productive lives. May is Mental Health Month and Jackson Health System is committed to teaching the community how important mental health is to overall health. You can take charge of your emotions and your life by:
- Exercising regularly to reduce stress
- Going to the beach or the pool
- Meditating or doing relaxation and breathing exercises
- Eating a balanced diet
People who are mentally and emotionally healthy have a good work/life balance, high self-esteem, the ability to deal with stress and bounce back from it and the ability to build and maintain long-lasting, fulfilling relationships.
Jackson provides comprehensive behavioral health services as part of its continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Our goal is to provide quality care by defining appropriate treatment plans and working together to restore healthy lifestyles.
