Miami, FL – Jackson Health System joined in the fight against prostate cancer by offering free blood test screenings (PSAs) to men 40 and older every Friday in September. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of death among men.
Men were invited to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Jackson North Medical Center and Jackson South Community Hospital for a simple blood test and for question and answer sessions with Jackson urologists. In total, 276 men received the free PSA screenings.
“Jackson Health System is committed to the health and well-being of this community,” said Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System. “We are proud that so many men took advantage of this great service, which could make a difference in saving someone’s life.”
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 241,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the United States this year, and more than 28,000 men will die of the disease. Jackson has a team of urologists who specialize in the most innovative treatments and techniques for men suffering from an enlarged prostate, kidney or bladder stones, or prostate cancer.
