HOLTZ CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL EXECUTIVE RECEIVES NATIONAL HONOR

Miami, FL – Steven E. Burghart, M.H.A., senior vice president and chief administrative officer of Holtz Children’s Hospital and Jackson Women’s Hospital, was recently named to the 2013 Becker’s Hospital Review “Rising Stars: 25 Healthcare Leaders Under 40”  list. This is the third consecutive year Mr. Burghart was named to this prestigious list.

Mr. Burghart, 39, joined the Jackson family in 2012, taking leadership of Holtz Children’s and Jackson’s Women’s Hospital – both located at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. He oversees the 347-bed tertiary and quaternary referral center for complex obstetrical, gynecologic, gynecologic oncology and pediatric patients, including those in the 126-bed Schatzi Kassal Project: New Born Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Holtz Children’s.

“Steven is an energetic and charismatic young leader who has played a critical role in Jackson’s transformation,” said Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System. “We salute him on this worthy accomplishment and are proud to have him on our team.”

Among Mr. Burghart’s accomplishments at Holtz Children’s and Jackson’s Women’s Hospital is successfully coordinating capital projects to enhance services, including pediatric private rooms, OB operating room renovations, the completion of a new, seven-bed pediatric bone marrow unit and renovations to maternity units.

Prior to joining Jackson, Mr. Burghart worked for Tenet Healthcare Corporation for eight years in many roles, including chief operating officer at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, chief operating officer at Hialeah Hospital and associate administrator at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Mr. Burghart earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University and an undergraduate degree from Baylor University. He has been a part of several community organizations, including having served as a board member of Meals on Wheels West Palm Beach, a board member of the Doral Business Council and an executive mentor for Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ PASS Program.

Becker’s annual list recognizes hospital and health system leaders nationwide who have achieved considerable accomplishments in their professional lives and excelled at their organizations before the age of 40.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team considered peer nominations, along with editorial research, when compiling the “Rising Stars” list. The full-length edition of the list can be found at www.beckershospitalreview.com.
