Gynecologic surgery with no visible scars.
Introducing Anovo™ Surgical System, developed by Momentis Surgical™ – the smallest, farthest-reaching surgical robot of its kind. With this state-of-the-art tool, our world-class surgeons are able to perform minimally invasive transvaginal procedures. And that can mean less pain, less risk of infection, less time recovering, and less scarring. In fact, no visible scars.
360° articulation and control.
This advanced robot features miniature, humanoid-shaped arms with shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints that mimic a surgeon’s precise movements that allow surgeons to perform gynecological procedures without the need for abdominal incisions. The Anovo™ Surgical System offers unprecedented reach and articulation for uncompromised surgeries and results. It is like miniaturizing the hands of the surgeon to reach inside the body.
Plethora of procedures.
The FDA has authorized The Anovo™ Surgical System for a variety of benign gynecologic procedures including hysterectomies, salpingectomies, oophorectomies, adnexectomies, ovarian cyst removals and tubal ligations. And it is the only transvaginal surgical robot to receive such authorization.

Frequently Asked Questions
What procedures is the Anovo System used for?
Anovo is authorized to perform laparoscopic-assisted benign gynecological procedures including total Benign Hysterectomy with Salpingo-Oophorectomy, total benign hysterectomy with salpingectomy, oophorectomy, adnexectomy, and ovarian cyst removal via the less invasive vaginal approach.
How is the Anovo System different from other surgical robots available?
The Anovo System is a first-of-its-kind surgical robot that features miniature humanoid-shaped arms that provide human-level agility and dexterity. It is designed to replicate the motions and capabilities of a surgeon’s arms, with shoulder, elbow and wrist joints. These features allow Anovo to provide unprecedented reach and articulation for a better surgical experience and patient outcomes.
What are the benefits of the transvaginal approach? Is this approach used widely for gynecological procedures?
Research shows that the transvaginal approach to gynecological surgery provides better clinical benefits to patients, including faster recovery times, reduced pain and rates of infection, and virtually no visible scars, compared to other approaches like the abdominal approach. But this approach is unavailable for more than 80 percent of patients because of anatomic access and other clinical issues. Anovo is the only FDA-authorized robot small and flexible enough to access hard-to-reach areas through the vagina. The robotic arms enter the body through a single small incision in the vagina and can reach all areas of the surgical site.
Is the Anovo System safe and effective? What have studies shown?
Study results have shown that the Anovo System is safe and effective when used to perform laparoscopic-assisted benign gynecological procedures such as benign hysterectomy via the transvaginal approach. In one recent study, the Anovo System was used to perform 30 hysterectomies, and 100 percent were completed successfully with the transvaginal approach with no observed adverse events related to the robot or intraoperative complications.
