Understanding Home Infusion

Home infusion therapy is the administration of medication, through a needle or catheter in a vein, given in the home setting. Home infusion has been proven to be a safe and effective alternative to inpatient care for many medical conditions and therapy types.
Your doctor will send an order to Jackson Health System Infusion Services. Our pharmacy team will verify your insurance coverage and estimated costs. We will review your therapy with you prior to starting your infusions and coordinate a home health nurse to assist with your infusions. We will coordinate a delivery date/time and send your medication and infusion supplies to your home.

A dedicated team of professionals will be monitoring your therapy throughout your time with us. If at any time a clinical emergency comes up, we are on-call 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to help you at 1-866-270-3282.
We work closely with your insurance company to request coverage for all your home infusion medications, supplies, and nursing care. Our team will verify benefits and eligibility with your insurance company, request prior authorization if needed, and streamline the payment process.
Insurance companies often require additional information before home infusion treatment will be covered. This is called prior authorization. Our pharmacy team will work with your insurance company and your prescribing physician to obtain prior authorization.
We can work with you to identify financial barriers and determine if you qualify for any medication copay assistance programs.
Before your care begins, a staff member will inform you of your financial obligations that are not covered by your insurance. These obligations may include deductibles, co-pays, co-insurances, and annual out-of-pocket limits. We will update this information if there is a change in your insurance plan. If you need help in arranging a payment plan, we will be happy to assist you in setting one up. Please call and let us know how we may assist you.
We also offer self-pay rates for any patients electing this option. Please call us at 1-866-270-3282 to learn more.
Your plan benefits may limit the services we can provide. Some drugs may not be covered by your insurance plan. You have the right to file an appeal with your health plan if your plan denies coverage for your medications or if you disagree with the coverage of your medications. The Jackson Health System Infusion Services pharmacy team can help with your appeals process, and we will coordinate sending your prescription to an outside pharmacy, if necessary. Our team may be contacted at 1-866-270-3282.
We offer the convenience of free home delivery of your medications right to your doorstep via our courier service or commercial carrier. We are not able to deliver to a PO Box address. We will also include any and all necessary infusion supplies for your therapy. Deliveries will be scheduled in advance. Our team will coordinate delivery of your home infusion medication(s), supplies, and equipment if applicable, to your home or an approved alternate location, such as your workplace or a family member’s home, when necessary.
If your medication(s) require special handling or refrigeration, they will be packaged and delivered accordingly. The Jackson Health System Infusion Services pharmacy team will make every effort to deliver your medication and supplies early if a weather warning is in place. A pharmacy representative will attempt to call our patients, in order of disaster priority, with any special instructions. Please make sure we have your secondary contact information on file to ensure we can reach you in case of an emergency or a delivery delay so there is no lapse in therapy. In addition, please let our staff know if your contact information changes.
The packing slip included in your delivery provides you with an itemized list and quantity of medication(s) and/or supplies. The packing slip also serves as proof of delivery and is included as part of your medical record in the event your insurance company requests this information.
The packing slip must be signed, dated, and returned with the delivery driver, if delivered by medical courier. If the delivery was left at your door by commercial carrier, such as UPS or FedEx, the packing slip must be signed, dated, and returned to the pharmacy in the envelope provided as soon as possible. Insurance providers can audit medical records at any time for proof of delivery and can deny reimbursement if proof of delivery is not available.
If packing slips are not signed and returned promptly, we will not be able to leave future deliveries at your door without a signature guarantee. Someone of the age of majority will need to be available at the time of delivery to accept the delivery and sign the packing slip.
If you are deaf, hearing impaired, or if English is not your primary spoken language, an interpreter is available to assist you. There are also special services available if you are visually impaired.
