About Jackson Pediatric Center

Jackson Pediatric Center is a division of Holtz Children’s Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. It is designated a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) facility by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

Since 1989, we have provided quality skilled nursing care with intensive early intervention to children with special medical needs. Our coordinated team effort includes parents, our multidisciplinary staff, and a host of community services. We are dedicated to providing quality, family-centered health care in a sensitive, loving, homelike environment.

It is especially important to us that the child’s caretakers expand their understanding of the child’s medical condition and learn how to better meet their child’s needs. As part of a world-class medical center, we can easily consult with pediatricians, psychologists, dietitians, social workers, and child life therapists through Jackson Health System and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Our goal is to accustom our children to a quality of life that will allow them to be integrated back into the community and the school system.

Why We Are Unique

All PPEC-designated centers are closely regulated and follow specific guidelines. In addition, Jackson Pediatric Center is part of Holtz Children’s Hospital and is located on the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center campus. This allows us not only close proximity to emergency services but also advanced access to all of the Holtz Children’s specialists.

Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC)

Being a kid is not all fun and games. There are parents to please, knees to skin, and other kids to interact with. But if you also have to use a ventilator or get oxygen therapy every day, you might not have the energy to be a “regular” kid, too.

That’s why the staff at the Jackson Pediatric Center makes this the ideal place for a special child with medical needs. They’ll be with other medically fragile kids who all need special attention. And the staff members know how to care for them medically while letting them have fun, too.
