Bloodless Medicine/Surgery
Jackson Health System’s hospitals offer the option of bloodless medicine and surgery as a special service for adult and pediatric patients who wish to avoid blood transfusions.
There can be many reasons for this choice. Some people hold a religious conviction that prevents them from receiving transfusions. Others feel more comfortable knowing that they can avoid the risk of blood-borne complications or diseases such as hepatitis or HIV.
Whatever the reasons behind the individual’s convictions, services from Jackson Health System have long been known for their sensitivity to the beliefs of their multicultural patients. The Center for Bloodless Medicine & Surgery makes sure that this particular choice is honored throughout a patient’s stay.
